VFW Post 4572 - Wetumpka, Alabama

Veterans of Foreign Wars of the US is the official nonprofit service organization for USA military veterans benefits, VFW programs, community service, patriotic and world events, American flag sales, and services to military veterans and communities.

Chartered on November 15, 1945, Smith-Leonard VFW Post 4572 has been serving Elmore County, Alabama veterans for over 65 years.  Post 4572 is located in Wetumpka, the county seat of Elmore County.  Post commander, Vaughn Hines is leading the charge to make VFW Post 4572 the best post in America.  Post Quartermaster Kelly Hight is leading our post to a bright future.  The officers of Smith-Leonard Post work tirelessly and give unselfishly to keep Smith-Leonard Post aligned to the core values which make the Veterans of Foreign Wars the premiere veteran's organization.  Smith-Leonard Post counts membership of veterans from World War II through the current Global War on Terrorism.  Alabama has historically been at the forefront in support of America's military conflicts and the proud membership of VFW Post 4572 reflects that support and devotion to duty.    The rank and file members of Post 4572 readily volunteer time and energy in support of our post officers.

Annually, the 2.1 million members of the VFW and its Auxiliary contribute more than 11 million hours of volunteerism in the community, including participation in Make A Difference Day and National Volunteer Week. From providing $2.5 million in college scholarships and savings bonds to students every year, to encouraging elevation of the Department of Veterans Affairs to the president's cabinet, the VFW is there.

VFW Post 4572 is dedicated to our motto "We honor the dead by helping the living."  We are committed to helping our fellow Comrades and Sisters, and we actively participate in the communities that surround our Post Home.
